Automotive Industrial Automation Leader Comau Selects MatrixOne to Speed Product Development, Improve Global Information Sharing
MatrixOne PLM Environment Deployed Throughout Comau Pico USA Is
Now Global PLM Standard for Comau Group
WESTFORD, Mass.—(BUSINESS WIRE)—Jan. 18, 2005—
MatrixOne, Inc. (NASDAQ: MONE), a leading provider of
collaborative product lifecycle management (PLM) solutions for the
value chain(TM), today announced that Comau Pico, a global supplier of
industrial automation systems for the automotive manufacturing sector,
has selected MatrixOne as its standard PLM environment, and will
expand on previous efforts to improve the collection and flow of data
throughout its organization in bringing new automation products to
market.
Comau Pico's adoption of MatrixOne PLM comes after several
successful implementations of MatrixOne in other business units of the
Comau Group, the largest automotive production system supplier in the
world. Several of the Comau Group's Italy-based business units,
including Powertrain, Body Welding & Assembly, and Robotics, are
already taking advantage of MatrixOne's Web-based PLM solution,
enabling their remote subsidiaries access to the common, centralized
technical data repository. Moreover, MatrixOne's PLM environment has
assisted the organization in streamlining and improving its
development abilities.
As Comau has grown over the past 50 years, so too has the amount
of product data needing to be categorized, managed and stored for
future use. The Comau Group has adopted MatrixOne's PLM environment as
a means toward a standardized, global solution for technical data
management.
"With the increase in product and design information that we have
to manage on a daily basis, it became clear that we need a tool that
will facilitate the global sharing and management of technical
information," said David Wang, director of information technology for
Comau Pico. "In order for our business to continue to run at a high
rate of efficiency and to continue producing error-free products and
services for our clients, we needed a new infrastructure that could
allow us to more easily and effectively share design information, and
that would give us the option for future expansion. MatrixOne's PLM
environment was able to offer us a way to solve these issues and to
improve upon our existing processes."
"Comau Group's companies and business units have long been
recognized as leaders in automotive manufacturing solutions," added
Mark F. O'Connell, president and CEO, MatrixOne. "MatrixOne's PLM
solutions will enable Comau to effectively manage its ever-increasing
volumes of product and design data--and to have it all located in one
central, easy-to-access and easy-to-update system. The cost savings
and improved efficiencies will help Comau continue to be at the top of
their market for years to come."
